Meet the Builders—

DON SAMPLE & DOMINIC FARINA

Don Sample:
After a decade of volunteer service to the Home Builders Association of Maryland’s board of directors, Don Sample served as the Association’s 2005 President. As an advocate for industry issues, Don has worked with government officials at the municipal, county, and state level. The combination of his volunteer service, and a record of public speaking have earned him a reputation in the Baltimore region as one of the industry’s most reasonable and outspoken representatives.

“I like to tell the story of how I learned the business from the ground up.” In the late 80’s Don represented Superior Walls of America. This company was building a national franchise of their pre-cast concrete foundation wall. Don’s introduction to the residential building industry literally began at the foundation. Throughout the 90’s he worked his way up the home building ladder from a small family owned builder of two dozen houses a year to one of the regions’ largest builders producing several hundred housing units annually, including elevator condominiums, town homes, and luxury detached.

It was at Universal Housing Corp that Don and Dominic first met. They were the last two executives hired by Victor Posner to manage and grow his real estate empire in the mid Atlantic before his passing. Together they re-established the company as a significant competitor along the I-95 and I-83 corridors. They developed communities ranging in size from 50 to over 1200 homes. Several communities included club houses, pools, fitness centers, and walking trails. These sites also required major on site and off site infrastructure projects.

Dominic Farina:
A lifelong builder and developer, Dominic Farina built projects in 5 states dating back to 1977. These projects ranged from small residential sites with private wells & septic systems, to large communities with town homes, condos, and single family detached housing types.

He has also developed commercial office space, flex space, and retail shopping centers. During the past 30 years, several of the projects Dominic has managed involved major infrastructure and amenities. Examples include steel bridge erection, pre-cast concrete bridges set with cranes, stream crossings for underground utilities, entry monuments, club houses, pools, fitness centers, walking trails and tot lots.

Throughout his career, Dominic has worked closely with government inspectors and policy makers at the local, state, and federal level. Relationships forged with many of these professionals have lasted a lifetime. He has also maintained professional relationships with the regions’ best engineering firms.

With over 45 years of combined experience, Dominic and Don are a formidable team. Call Hometown Builders for a free consultation regarding your home building project.
